Review: Garnier Pure Active Multi-action Scrub

I have been seeing a dermatologist for months already but there are times when I get frustrated with the result I am getting though I know that it takes months (some even years!) to treat acne. There are times when I want to try every anti-acne product I found on the market at once hoping to hasten the treatment. That shouldn’t be the case, I know, but when your self confidence is at stake, you just have to take the matters into your own hands.

Before my recent trip to the derm (and new regimen), I dropped by Watsons to find something promising. I found this Garnier Pure Active Multi Action Scrub and after reading the labels, I decided to get it while hoping that it could be the answer to my prayers. But is it? Read my review...
Product Description. Visibly fights six signs of acne.

Packaging and Appeal. Garnier Pure Active Multi-action Scrub comes in a white slim tube with blue cap. Though I love cute product packaging and labels, I can be a minimalist as well… thus probably explains why I find the label/print of the tube rather too much. The royal blue, red and maroon color combination in addition to the print is a bit messy for me. With that color scheme, I think they should choose simpler prints. But then, that’s just me.

Anyway, the packaging doesn’t really matter. What is important is if the product delivers its promise.

The cream is luminous white with very tiny beads/granules. That is one of the factors that made me consider this product since harsh scrubs can do more harm than good to a pimply face like mine. The beads are so tiny I can barely feel them when washing.

Effectiveness. I used this product during the time that my face is at its worst; countless acne scars and new pimples appearing almost every day. After my second or third wash with this product, it seems to have calmed down my face a bit. My face looks a bit cleaner and pimples seem to have started to heal. I went on to use this for a week but sadly, I didn’t see any major improvement. That “little bit of improvement” didn’t progress to something remarkable. It got stuck there thus I went to see my dermatologist for something more effective.

Scent. The scent of this facial scrub is a bit off for me. It smells like herbs or plants or whatever. But then, it is not something I cannot tolerate. Besides, the smell disappears a minute or so into lathering.

Price. The product is really cheap… I think one of the cheapest of its kind. The 50 ml tube I got costs Php 89 and the bigger one is worth around Php 150. But then, I have no need for a product that is not working on me. If only this works on me, I will surely have lots of savings.

Availability. Garnier Pure Active Multi-action Scrub is available in Watsons, SM Department store and many other malls and drugstores nationwide.

Will I purchase this product again?
No, simply because it’s not working on me.

Conclusion.
While this product didn’t cause more problems, I cannot continue using this since it is not enough to treat my acne. However, if your skin problem is not worse as mine, you may want to consider this when looking for something to exfoliate your skin. As for me, I just have to stick to the products prescribed by my derma.
