Review: Human Nature Balancing Toner

My first attempt with organic toner was good hence encouraged me to try a different brand. And since it is organic, I didn’t worry of it being too harsh for my skin. The second organic toner I tried is the Human Nature Balancing Toner. At first, I was skeptical to try the product since many organic products are a hit and miss. But after reading a few reviews of the product, I finally decided to give it a try. I head to a Human Nature outlet in my area to buy one, hoping that it will work well and most of all, not cause negative reaction.

Fast forward to approximately a couple of months later, here’s what I think about the product.

Product Description:

100% Natural | For OILY or COMBINATION SKIN

Complete your natural face routine with the improved formulation of Balancing Face Toner! Bursting with elemi extract, a prized ingredient known for its skin-care benefits and healing properties, and sugar beet, now you can help keep oil under control for shine-free, refreshed skin!

This helps you stay away from alcohol-based toners that can dry your skin leading to premature skin ageing. Your skin deserves a gentle yet effective cleanser without the stinging and tightening. And what’s best is that it preps your skin for what should come next – moisturizing! The end result? Stunningly clear, shine-free skin!

Review:

Packaging and Appeal. The packaging is nothing fancy. The toner comes in a typical bottle with flip top cap and product label showcasing fruits and other natural ingredients the product contains. The bottle is made of sturdy plastic thus less pliable and it is not transparent thus you cannot immediately see the amount of product left in the bottle.

When applied, the product feels light to the skin and doesn’t cause tingling or burning sensation. It doesn’t cause redness or itchiness either.

Effectiveness. I wanted this product to work since I want to gradually switch to organic skincare and beauty products. But unfortunately, this product seems to be not doing anything it claims to do. Being a balancing toner, it should help regulate oil - stimulate production if I have dry skin and control if I have oily skin. But a few hours after application, I notice that my face tends to become oily, in fact, oilier than when I haven’t used this toner. With this, my face looks yucky than when I use other toners such as All Organics Lemongrass toner or Celeteque Acne Solutions Oil Control toner.

Scent. This toner smells like orange and I love it. It feels refreshing especially when applied after taking a bath in the morning.

Ingredients. Water, Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice, Origanum vulgare (oregano) leaf extract, Mentha viridis (spearmint) extract, Melissa officinalis (lemon balm) extract, betaine (sugar beet-derived), glyceryl caprylate (coconut, palm and glycerin-derived), polyglyceryl-4 laurate/sebacate (vegetable-derived), polyglyceryl-6 caprylate/caprate (vegetable-derived), Citrus sinensis (orange) essential oil, Canarium luzonicum (elemi) essential oil, menthyl lactate (vegetable-derived)

Price. The smallest bottle, 100 ml costs Php 99 and the bigger one which is 200 ml costs Php 169.75. I think the price is quite reasonable if only it worked for me.

Availability. This is available in Human Nature outlets and dealers. You can also purchase online and have it delivered at your doorstep.

Would I buy this product again?
Probably not!

Conclusion:
To sum it all up, this product is definitely not for me. If I really wanted to use organic toner, I think I will go back to All Organics Lemongrass or try a different product again. However, that will have to wait until my face gets better as I have been breaking out badly since the last couple of weeks.

To those who are looking on trying this product, go ahead. I won’t deter you from doing so as we all have different skin types as well as skin care needs. This product might work for you. However, just remember that when using a product for the first time, remember to introduce it to your routine in a gradual manner to prevent your skin from becoming overwhelmed that could result to negative reactions.
