2014 Favorites

The year 2014 has ended and I am publishing this post just now because I didn't have time to do so last year. I was so busy doing many other things including playing Kings Road on Facebook. LOL!

Anyway... Last year, I was introduced to lots of products and there are those that remain a favorite. But the products I included in this list are not all new to me. I have been using some for years, others I have rediscovered. Here they are in no particular order:

Epiduo Gel. This saved my life… along with oral antibiotics my derma prescribed to me. My pimples started to heal after a few uses and long term use made them all disappear. I so love this product and I cannot imagine what my life (or my face) would be like without this. One small tube costs around Php 1200, quite expensive for its size but the result is so worth it. After all, the tube lasted me for around half a year so it’s really a great investment.
Lactacyd Baby Bath. This is another life-saver. I have been using this on and off for years and I have recently found it effective in treating my dandruff. Daily use for two weeks is all it takes for the dandruff to disappear completely.

Acne Bar (from my Dermatologist). The soap contains salicylic acid and tea tree oil - two ingredients said to be effective in treating acne. Currently, I only use this every night (morning and night before) as I no longer have pimples. This soap is a bit drying so using moisturizer is recommended.

Revlon Balm Stain. This lipstick is light on the lipstick and has that minty flavor I love. It is easy to apply thus my go-to lipstick especially when I am feeling lazy or running late. I have three shades only - Romantique, Rendezvous and Honey.
Human Nature Strengthening Conditioner. I love this shampoo! It moisturizes my hair without making my scalp itchy. I love its fresh scent too!

Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream. It’s my first time to buy from the soft matte line. The lipstick has indeed matte finish and staying power is great provided you are careful when eating or drinking. But for a less demure girl like me, staying power is three hours or so. I got two shades of this lipstick - Copenhagen and Istanbul. There are lots of pretty shades available and I am thinking of getting more someday.

Wet n Wild Pinkerbell. I love the color! It’s bright, bubblegum pink yet not too bright for everyday use. I love the color so much that I used this lipstick during my Civil Wedding. It feels a bit heavy on the lips though. Also, it can be drying so exfoliating the lips is really a must before application.

Human Heart Nature Sunflower Beauty Oil. This all around beauty oil has been very useful to me. While I use this for many other things, I mainly use this now as my makeup remover. I love how my skin feels when washing it after massaging my face with this oil. I sometimes use this as moisturizer as well - particularly if I am planning to use a powder that I find drying.

Sunskeen ProTech. This sunblock is introduced to me by my dermatologist. One tube is less than Php 700 but it lasted me more than five months I think. I love that this sunblock is easy to apply, it almost glides on my skin. It’s not making me very oily either.
Milea Tea Tree Shampoo. This is the answer to my scalp itchiness and dandruff problem. I can see myself using this for years, unless of course if it stops working.

Dove for sensitive skin. This is another product that I use on and off. But recently, my mother’s Obstetrician/Gynecologist/Oncologist recommended this as it prevents “down there” from drying. So I have started using this too and even thought of using this to wash my face every morning. So far it’s doing good and I often skip moisturizers as this doesn’t dry out my skin. It doesn’t give that tight feeling after wash too.

So this sums up my favorite products for this year. I just hope that they continue to work so that I never have to go switch again.

  1. If you haven't yet, I'd recommend you try Human Nature products too. Their Acne Gel is really effective. Plus you get to help the Filipino community in your purchases. :)
