Review: Skin Genie Natural Moisturizing Water Lotion

I've been religiously using organic shampoo and on-and-off organic soaps for years now but it's the first time I laid my hands on local organic lotion - a water lotion to be exact.

I've come to know Skin Genie Natural Moisturizing Water Lotion through BeautyMNL. It has some positive reviews so I got one hoping that it'll become a favorite since it is also organic and affordable too.

REVIEW

Packaging and Appeal. The product comes in a white pump bottle with minimalist-style label. As the name implies, the product itself has runny consistency. Having been using cream and gel-type body lotions, using water lotion takes a bit of getting used to. It's easy to apply but it doesn't glide just like what I am used to.

Effectiveness. Since it is water lotion, it is not greasy, feels light and is absorbed by the skin easily. However, one thing that prevents me from including this to my favorite list is its moisturizing capacity. I don't think it is moisturizing enough because my skin still feels dry even after applying and I see the need to apply again after an hour or so. I have been using this for more than two weeks and I still have to get that satisfactory feeling.

Scent. This lotion smells very light. I cannot even smell it during application.

Ingredients. It contains natural ingredients such as aloe vera, sea minerals and cucumber extract so it's definitely safe for everyone. I haven't tried this to my baby though.

Price. One 250ml bottle costs Php 250 at BeautyMNL. It is supposed to be affordable for an organic body lotion however, since it is not doing its job fairly well and I need a lot each time I apply to feel that it is hydrating my skin, it has become expensive in the long run.

Availability. A lot of organic skin care products, including this one, are not readily-available in Iloilo so I needed to order online. Aside from BeautyMNL, this can also be purchased from the brands website.

Probably not.

CONCLUSION

I find it hard to love this lotion. It doesn't work for me but who knows? It may work for your skin so if you want you can give this a try.

P.S. I may update this review next summer (2018), during the time our skin is less dry and needs lighter lotions.
