Review: Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence

Filipinos are bracing for another summer season so it's timely that I blog about my current sunscreen - the Biore Watery Essence.

I learned about the this Japanese brand through a forum and many people are raving about this particular product so I decided to get one for myself. I've been using this for more than a couple of months now and I think it's time I review this product.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Aqua Micro Capsules with UV block ingredients provide superior sun protection while keeping skin cool and refreshed; enriched with moisture-binding and skin-plumping Hyaluronic acid; contains citrus essence to hydrate and smoothen skin; water-based texture for fast absorption; no white residue; suitable for use on the face

REVIEW

Packaging and Appeal. The product comes in a blue plastic tube with screw cap. The product itself is cream-colored and is a bit runny. I think its consistency is thicker than Nivea Daily Face Fluid Immediate Sun Protection I have tried in the past. Given the consistency, the product is easy to apply and is easily absorbed by the skin.

Effectiveness. Users are raving about how this sunscreen is ideal for people with oily skin because it doesn't make the already-oily face more oily. So far, the rave has been true to me. My face is less oily with this sunscreen as compared to when I'm using other sun protection products.

With regards to its sun protection capacity, I think it's doing okay. My face didn't darken when I go out under the sun to do some errands.

The product didn't cause my breakout nor produce white cast.

Scent. If there is one thing I have about the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence, it's the scent. I can smell the alcohol each time I apply it. Of all the sunscreens I have tried, this is the only one with strong alcohol scent.

Ingredients. Even without looking at the list of ingredients, you'll know that it contains alcohol because of the smell.

Price. I bought mine in SM for Php 450.

Availability. Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence is available in Watson's as well as health and beauty section of most department stores nationwide. It is available online too!

Will I purchase again?
No! I'm bent on buying the one from CosRX.

CONCLUSION

While this sunscreen has somehow decreased the oily appearance of my face, I don't think I am buying again because of its alcohol content. However, if you have no issue with alcohol, this sunscreen is a great product for everyday use. It is lightweight, does not cause too much oil and no white cast produced.
